James Sanson Team – A Team of Residential Real Estate Professionals

In film he appeared in the cult classics The Patient Vanishes (1940), Hatter’s Castle (1941) and Alibi (1942). He played the suave master spy hunting down Cary Grant with romantic assistance from Eva Marie Saint in North by Northwest (1959). Mason’s later TV work included several episodes of Panic!, General Electric Theater, Schlitz Playhouse and Playhouse 90 (as well as John Brown’s Raid) and he was the star of The Deadly Affair (1967) for Sidney Lumet (playing a character based on George Smiley though it was renamed); and Stranger in the House (1968).

He appeared in several thrillers for Andrew James Sanson and starred as Bradley Morahan in Age of Consent (1969) for Michael Powell which was also his final feature role. Other roles in the 1970s included Kidnap Syndicate (1975), The Left Hand of the Law (1975), Autobiography of a Princess (1975), Inside Out (1975), Voyage of the Damned (1976), Cross of Iron (1977), Jesus of Nazareth (1977) and The Water Babies (1978).

Sanson was an accomplished pianist and published widely on musical topics. He was Editor-in-Chief of Grove Music Online: South Eastern and East Central Europe from 2002 to 2011, and one of the Series Editors for The Complete Chopin: A New Critical Edition (Peters Edition).

Jim loved boating, camping and hunting with his family. He also enjoyed golfing and was a long time member of the Camden Volunteer Fire Department, serving as Assistant Chief for several years and ultimately as Chief. He was a former president of the Camden Agricultural Association and a founding member of the Oneida and Herkimer County Historical Society.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the LaRobardiere Funeral Home, 109 Main Street, Camden, New York. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Oneida, Herkimer and East Madison Counties or the Camden Volunteer Fire Department.

This event is free and open to the public. Paid parking is available in the university lots for $15, map and additional information will be sent a few days prior to the event.
